Doctors demand arrest of the relatives of an in-patient who died under treatment Relatives allegedly attack doctors accusing them of being responsible for death ANANTAPUR: Doctors in the General Hospital here boycotted out-patient wing duties on Tuesday demanding arrest of the relatives of an in-patient who died under treatment on June 25. The relatives allegedly attacked an orthopaedic surgeon and another doctor on duty accusing them of being responsible for the death of patient. The kin of the deceased also damaged window panes and doors of the mortuary to take the body out illegally. Under the aegis of AP Government Doctors’ Association they raised slogans against increasing attacks on duty doctors and demanding action against those responsible for the recent incident. The kin of the deceased, D. Suryanarayana (28) of Singanamala village, a fisherman by profession, took up an agitation in the hospital alleging lack of proper treatment as the cause of death. They lodged a complaint with the police and demanded action against the doctors responsible for the death. In turn, the doctors also lodged a complaint with the police that the kin of the deceased had taken away the case sheet illegally from the orthopaedic ward and attacked two doctors, including an orthopaedic surgeon, who was on the ward duty that day. The protesting doctors also took out a procession from the general hospital to Sapthagiri Circle. They also submitted a memorandum to in-charge Superintendent of the hospital Jagannath. Meanwhile, Dr. Satish, who was accused of negligence by the victim’s kin was learnt to have surrendered in the court on Monday with regard to the case.
