KOCHI: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has called for a hartal in Kerala from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 3. It is in connection with a Bharat bandh called by the VHP in protest against the decision to withdraw land allocation for the Amarnath temple. Essential services have been excluded from the hartal, said VHP State general secretary K.M. Unnikrishnan. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has extended its support. to the hartal. A press note from the BJP said in Thiruvananthapuram that it was to protest against the Congress government’s stand which was helpful to the extremists’ bid to scuttle the Amarnath pilgrimage.
