Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: The work at Ayoor Junction, on MC Road, has started as decided, Public Works Minister Mons Joseph said here on Tuesday. Mr. Joseph was addressing a meeting of the MLAs concerned and top officials convened here to review the progress of the Kerala State Transport Project (KSTP) work and take decisions on issues which should be addressed expeditiously. The meeting resolved to raise the level of the road to check water logging in some major junctions. The places affected included Ayoor, Nilamel, Kottarakkara (Karikkam) and Valakom. It recommended the construction of a foot overbridge in Pandalam town. Work at Kilimanoor, Chadayamangalam, Chengannur, Kazhakoottam, Thycode and Vamanapurama would be expedited, Mr. Joseph said. Steps would be taken to improve the drainage system in more places, the Minister said. Culverts and drains would be constructed to overcome the flooding in the Adoor bypass area. The stretch near the Mylam village office is considered as a ‘danger zone.’ Concerted steps would be taken to make it safer, the meeting noted. The meeting asked the PWD Chief Engineer and the representatives of the executing company to look into the suggestions made by the MLAs. Separate meetings of MLAs and KSTP officials would be held to discuss the road development in each area. There would also be joint site inspections. The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakran; Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Aysha Potti, N. Rajan, K.K. Shaju, P. Raju, M.A. Waheed, J. Arundhathi and P.C. Vishnunath, MLAs.
