Afghanistan seeks NGO’s help on local governance
Staff Correspondent
DEHRA DUN: The Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Afghan Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development have requested the Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra, a Doon-based non-government organisation, to frame and draft a policy paper as well as an Act for Local Governance in Afghanistan.
The organisation has also been asked to train the officials and elected representatives of Afghanistan in local self-governance, according to Kendra chairperson Avdhash Kaushal.
The request is a sequel to a memorandum of understanding signed between India and Afghanistan on April 10, 2006.
