University students indulge in arson
Patna: The indefinite strike by over 35,000 non-teaching employees of nine universities and staff of 250 constituent colleges across Bihar on Tuesday took an ugly turn when students, angered over postponement of examinations, resorted to arson.
Vehicle torched
Irate students of the Jai Prakash Narain University in Saran, who were to take their graduation examinations, torched the vehicle of Vice-Chancellor Ram Pravesh Sharma. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Mithilesh Kumar told reporters that the agitating students poured petrol on the Vice-Chancellor’s vehicle and set it ablaze.
The outer gate and wall of the university were also damaged. The Vice-Chancellor was away in Patna attending a meeting, Mr. Kumar said. — PTI
