RELIEF: Ariyalur Collector R. Sudalaikannan distributing tricycles to physically challenged persons. ARIYALUR: Distribution of tri-cycles, wheel-chairs, Braille watches and other similar materials marked the Helen Keller birth anniversary celebrations organised by the District Disabled Rehabilitation Office here at the Helen Keller Hearing Impaired School at Gangaikondacholapuram near here recently. The Collector, R. Sudalaikannan, who gave away the assistances, complimented the services of the special teachers of the school who toiled hard in the cause of the differentlyabled children. He said that the district administration attached priority for extending assistances to the differentlyabled persons. Last year, 1,298 differentlyabled persons got assistances worth Rs.37 lakh. Referring to a plea by the Headmistress Josemin, the Collector assured that steps would be taken to provide an overhead tank. The District Disabled Rehabilitation Officer, N. Selvaraju, said that 75 beneficiaries got assistance worth Rs.1.76 lakh.
