Call to keep Deputy Collector post open

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Land Revenue Staff Association has urged the government to take steps to overcome the court order under which 50 per cent of the vacancies of the post of Deputy Collector should be filled through direct appointment. The State secretariat of the organisation which met here on Tuesday said that 90 posts of Deputy Collectors were the only district-level promotion available for the 16,500-odd Revenue staff. It asked the government to amend the special rules and file an appeal against the decision. — Special Correspondent
