Tomato growers seek support price

KOLAR: Tomato growers in the district demanding support price for their produce gheraoed district in-charge Minister S.N. Krishnaiah Shetty and Deputy Commissioner B. Shivappa.

Hundreds of farmers led by Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha leader Holur Shankar, Jilla Raitha Hitharakshana Samiti president Byalahalli Govinde Gowda and Dalit leader C.M. Muniyappa gathered at the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee yard demanding a support price of Rs. 4 per kg.

When Mr. Shetty rushed here from Bangalore to hear their grievances, the irate farmers gheraoed him and demanded an assurance on the support price. — Staff Correspondent
