KOCHI: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has called for a hartal in Kerala from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 3. It is in connection with a Bharat bandh called by the VHP in protest against the decision to withdraw the land allocation for Amarnath temple. Essential services have been excluded from the hartal, said VHP State general secretary K.M. Unnikrishnan. He said vehicle rallies would be organised on July 2 at various places in the State. BJP extends supportThe Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has extended its support to the hartal. A press note from the BJP said in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday that it was to protest against the Congress government’s stand which was helpful to the extremists bid to scuttle the Amarnath pilgrimage.
