Man injured, wife found dead

Staff Reporter

Coimbatore: The Singanallur police are inquiring into the circumstances that left an aged man injured while his wife was found hanging at their house in Singanallur housing unit on Tuesday morning.

Anusuya (68) was found dead hanging while Pasupathy (72) was struggling for life with a bleeding injury on his head.

It is learnt that the aged couple were living alone after having got both their daughters married.

Pasupathy was said to be suffering from brain tumour and was under treatment. Going by a letter recovered from the scene of occurrence, the police suspect the wife to have first hit the husband with a hammer and killed herself in a depressed state of mind. Following a phone call from the neighbours, Pasupathy was rushed to the hospital.
