SSLC question paper blueprint by month-end

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The SSLC question paper blueprint for the current academic year will be prepared by the end of this month, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri told presspersons on Tuesday at the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) office.

D. Rajanna, Director of KSEEB, said that the S. Srikantaswamy Committee report on the SSLC question paper pattern would be discussed at the department level on July 3, after which the report would be forwarded to the Government by July 5.

Mr. Kageri said that the Cabinet would discuss the report and then take a decision on whether the change in pattern should be taken up for the March/April 2009 examination. “The discussions are being held at the right time, as it is at this time of the year that the blueprint is prepared,” he said.

Mr. Rajanna updated the Minister about the board and its activities.

He urged the Minister to look into the grant of Rs. 5.61 crore towards the fees for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

He said that the sanction would help the board, which is working on improving infrastructure. He also said that the board was contemplating revising the allowances for evaluators.

“The evaluators have been requesting a revision on par with that given to the PU evaluators,” he said.

About the quality of textbooks, Mr. Kageri said that the printing quality of the State syllabus textbooks was very poor.

“The students and parents will see the change from the next academic year. I have held discussions in this regard with officials concerned. We are keen on ensuring that the textbook shortage problem does not recur,” he said.
