Now land auctions through e-tendering

M. L. Melly Maitreyi

HYDERABAD: Auction of land under the purview of Urban Development Authorities may well be quiet affair hereafter with the authorities opting for e-tendering.

Given the strong opposition from political parties to land auctions conducted by either the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority or the Visakha Urban Development Authority, the Government apparently favours e-tendering for land auctions.

With the target of raising Rs.12,000 crore through land auctions, UDAs, AP Housing Board and A. P. Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) have changed tack and preferred e-tendering for land auctions, hitherto restricted to major infrastructure projects. E-tendering will not only to avoid disturbances at the auction venues, but also for ensuring transparency and expediting the proceedings. The selection of lands was strictly in accordance with Master Plan land use guidelines ,” sources in the Municipal Administration and Urban Development department said.

The State was pioneer in the country in e-tendering process for major infrastructure projects involving national and international bids. It worked well, saved money by cutting paper work and ensured wider reach to enable interested companies to bid for projects online from anywhere in the globe, the sources added.

In line with this thinking, HUDA, with a target of raising Rs.3,000 crore in 2008-09, became the first UDA to opt for e-tendering for auctioning lands in prime areas like Rajendranagar, Seri Lingampally, Keesara, Ramachandrapuram, Uppal.

The eprocurement.gov.in is a comprehensive e-infrastructure that helps the Government and the companies alike to participate in the tendering process via profitable G2B e-commerce. https:tender.eprocurement.gov.in gives information about e-tendering for bidders and laymen.
