St. Mary’s in semifinals

Madurai: St. Mary’s HSS, Dindigul, beat Mangayarkarasi HSS, Madurai, 25-17, 26-24 to enter the senior section semifinals in the 29th annual State-level inter-school volleyball tournament for the Virudhunagar PSM Mariappa Nadar Trophy at Madurai on Tuesday.

Other results: Seniors: quarterfinals: St. Britto bt St. Lasalle, Tuticorin, 25-23, 25-22; Thambi Thottam HSS, Gandhigram bt TVS HSS 25-8, 25-13.

Pre-quarterfinals: Mangayarkarasi HSS bt Sivakasi Nadar MHSS 25-17, 25-21; St. Lasalle HSS, Tuticorin bt ASMA MHSS, Veeracholam 25-18, 25-14; St. Mary’s HSS, Dindigul w/o Vikasa; Khaja Mian HSS bt Sethupathy HSS 25-5, 25-10; Devangar HSS, Chinnalapatti bt St. Mary’s of Leuca 25-14, 25-7.

Rajan scores winner

Rajan’s goal helped St. Mary’s HSS defeat T.V.S. Sundaram HSS 1-0 in the final of the 15th annual LOSA inter-school football tournament.

In the semifinals St. Mary’s beat Indira Gandhi School 3-0 (Rajan 2, Britto) and TVS Sundaram HSS beat Lakshmi School (ICSE) 3-0 (Nawaz 2, Karthik scored).

Big win for TVS HSS

Half centuries by Rajalingam (62) and Muthumurugan (50) helped TVS HSS defeat St. Mary’s of Leuca HSS by 100 runs in the LOSA inter-school cricket tournament at Madurai on Sunday.

The scores: TVS HSS 218 for seven in 20 overs (Rajalingam 67, Muthumurugan 50, Samuel three for 46) bt St. Mary’s of Leuca 118 in 18 overs (Xavier 25, Dayanakumar five for 29); MM HSS 139 in 18 overs (Arjun four for 16) bt Jain Vidyalaya 103 for five in 20 overs; SEV Mat. School 86 for four in 15 overs lost to SDA, KENET 87 for nine 14 overs.

Under-19 chess
