Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: As many as 14 films in different languages will be screened at the Indian panorama film festival beginning here on July 3. The week-long festival is being organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations in association with the Directorate of Film Festivals, New Delhi. The films to be screened are those that were included in the Indian Panorama section at the International Film Festival, Goa. They include ‘Nalu Pennungal’ directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, ‘Ami, Iyasin Ar Amar Madhubala’ directed by Bengali director Buddhadeb Dasgupta, ‘Aevdhe Se Abhaal’ (Marathi) by Bipin Nadkarni and ‘Ammuvagiya Naan’ (Tamil) by Padma Magan. Films by debutante directors include ‘Gafla’ (Hindi) by Sameer Hanchate, ‘Dharm’ (Hindi) by Bhavna Talwar and ‘Ek Nadir Galpo’ (Bengali) by Samir Chanda. Manipuri director Makhonmani Mongsaba’s film ‘Yenning Amadi Likla,’ which won the national and State awards, ‘Daatu’ directed by Kannada actor-director K. Shivarudraiah and ‘Periyar’ (Tamil) by Gnana Rajasekharan are the films to be exhibited at the festival. Malayalam entriesThe Malayalam entries include ‘Thaniye’ by Babu Thiruvalla and ‘Kayyoppu’ by Ranjith. The films will be screened at the Tagore Theatre at 4 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.
