THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three head-load workers, who showed the presence of mind and readiness to rush noted writer Ayyaneth to the hospital as the latter got critically injured in a road accident, will be felicitated on July 5. Noble actThe workers — C. Rangan, V. Biju and H. Renjith — belong to the Kumarapuram pool of the Kerala Head-load Workers’ Welfare Board. On June 16, Ayyaneth was involved in a road accident at Kumarapuram junction. The three workers rushed him to a nearby private hospital as the author lay on the road without anyone attending to him. However, Ayyaneth died the next day. A welcome sightA press note issued by the Welfare Board here said it was a welcome sight to see workers behave in such an exemplary fashion. “It is society’s duty to felicitate such workers,” the press note read. FelicitationAt a function to be organised at the chamber of Labour Minister P. K. Gurudasan, each worker would be given a day’s wage by the district committee of the board, a special memento from the Kattakkada branch of the State Bank of Travancore (SBT) and a special prize of Rs.1001 each. The Minister will give away the prizes to the three workers at the function, the press note added.
