Suicide bid in police station

VILLUPURAM: S.Mandikandaprabhu (21) of Elavanasurkottai made a suicide attempt in the toilet of the Thiagadurgam police station on Tuesday.

The police said he was brought to the station for enquiry in connection with a theft case. However, the accused went to the toilet and reportedly slashed his neck with the metal stand of a mosquito-repellent coil. The police initially took him to the Kallakurichi government hospital and later shifted him to the Salem government hospital. — Special Correspondent
