First phase to be operational by year-end Centres to be set up in Bangalore, Hyderabad
CHENNAI: iGate Global Solutions, an integrated technology and operations company, has decided to expand its global delivery facility in Chennai. The company will add 1.16 lakh sq. ft. facility in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at DLF Info City, Nandambakkam, near Chennai. This will be in addition to the one lakh sq. ft. of office space it has in the city. The first phase of the new facility will be fully operational by the end of the year. The company also plans to set up a 3.5 lakh sq. ft. facility in Bangalore and 65,000 sq. ft. facility in Hyderabad. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Phaneesh Murthy, Chief Executive Officer, iGate Corporation, said the company would be investing $7.5 million in the Chennai facility, $30 million in Bangalore (infrastructure and technology) and $4 million in Hyderabad. As part of this expansion, iGate planned to hire about 1,000 employees in Chennai in the next 24 months and 3,000 in Bangalore and 700 in Hyderabad. The company was also opening a new facility with an investment of $2 million in Australia. Mr. Murthy said the company was also planning to set up a media and entertainment Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the new upcoming facility. The CoE would build frameworks and enhance the productivity solutions for its key clients in the media and entertainment space.
