Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Wednesday directed teachers in the State to stop giving corporal punishments to students. Director School Education Mohammad Rafi in a circular said teachers should not award corporal punishment to students. Teachers should avoid giving corporal punishment to students as it has long term detrimental effects on children’s overall development, self-esteem and their interest in learning, the circular said.
