Train mishap averted

Bhopal: A major train accident was averted on Wednesday between Habibganj and Bhopal railway stations when the driver of Chennai-Lucknow Express applied emergency brakes after spotting a large piece of rock on the tracks under the Chetak bridge here.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. after the driver noticed a large rock lying over railway track and immediately applied emergency brakes, a railway official said. However, before the train could stop, it hit the rock causing damage to the engine’s cattle guard, he said adding no passengers were injured in the mishap.
