ALAPPUZHA: Kerala Congress (M) leader K.M. Mani has termed as “farcical” the constitution of an 18-member commission to look into the complaints about the Class VII social science textbook. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Mani said the commission set up to look into whether the textbook was ‘politicised’ was in itself ‘politicised’ as it comprised “known Left-leaning” persons. No significanceThere would be no significance for such a committee since the result would be a foregone conclusion. Moreover, the commission was given three months to submit a report. By that time, students would already be taught the portions found objectionable by various quarters, he said. “In any case, what is the point of a commission to examine the book when the government has already declared that it will not withdraw the book?” he asked.
