MCD approves 10-crore budget for installing signboards
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has allocated a Rs.10-crore budget for installation of new signboards in view of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the city. The decision was taken at a meeting of the MCD Standing Committee on Wednesday.
Apart from being of uniform size, shape, colour and quality, the new signboards would also be retro-reflective and tamper-proof.
The MCD had earlier undertaken a pilot project in collaboration with the New Delhi Municipal Council and the Public Works Department: “We received a good response from the people for our pilot project and would now be extending it to the rest of the areas on the same lines as the NDMC and the PWD,” said Ravi Das of MCD’s Engineering Department. MCD Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta said: “It has been noticed that while several roads are ready no signboards have been installed on them. We have come up with a comprehensive plan to complete the installation of signboards in a time-bound manner.”
