CUTTACK: The local SDJM court here on Wednesday fixed next week to decide whether to take cognizance of a petition filed by one Harihar Parida who was projected as the complainant in the false affidavit case against former Union Minister and senior Congress leader K C Lenka. After a case was filed against Mr. Lenka by the district Returning Officer, Mr. Parida had come out openly saying that he had not made any complaint against Mr. Lenka. A Congress worker and a staunch supporter of the former Union Minister, Mr. Parida had moved the SDJM court last month claiming that his signature was forged to implicate the senior Congress leader. The chargeMr. Lenka was charged with suppressing facts about his property, pending vigilance cases and educational qualification in the mandatory affidavit that he was required to submit at the time of filing nomination papers. The case against Lenka was filed in June this year, about four years after the election processes was over. The Congress leader had however lost the Assembly elections in 2004 from Choudwar constituency. The local court also deferred to hear another petition filed by the district administration to condone the delay.
