HYDERABAD: Each of the 2,829 proposed new polling stations in the 15 Assembly constituencies after delimitation will have 1,350 voters as per Election Commission guidelines, said GHMC Additional Commissioner (Elections) P. Venkatrami Reddy here on Wednesday.

In a brief interaction with presspersons after holding discussions with representatives of political parties to seek their suggestions on the draft list of polling stations, Mr. Reddy also said that Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) would be issued at the doorstep of voters in the next one month.

He claimed that the process has begun in some constituencies. The designated photo lamination (DPL) centres in all circle offices would be functioning throughout the year to receive applications from voters for additions, deletions or corrections in the lists or EPICs.

Earlier, the political parties demanded more time be given for them to study the draft polling stations list as the three days time given was not sufficient.

Mr. Reddy informed them that the respective Deputy Municipal Commissioners had been directed to apprise, receive objections or suggestions from recognised political parties on the draft list everyday between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. up to July 5.

The final list would be announced by the EC.

M.S. Prabhakar Rao (Congress), legislator Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri (MIM), Nayani Narasimha Reddy (TRS), B. Venkat Reddy (BJP), Shyam Sunder Goud (BJP), K. Srinivasa Rao (CPI-M), B.N. Reddy (TDP) and others attended the meeting.
