Van driver molests 2 schoolgirls

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A school van driver, Ravinder Reddy, allegedly molested two girl students on Wednesday while taking them home from school at Vanasthalipuram.

Based on a complaint lodged by the girls’ family members, the Vansthalipuram police arrested the driver after registering a case under Section 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. The driver was in a drunken condition when he was picked up, Inspector M. Chandrashekhar said.

He said 20-year-old Ravinder Reddy was the younger brother of the mini-van’s permanent driver Krishna Reddy. Ravinder Reddy used to drive the vehicle when his brother was away. “Hence, the school authorities didn’t raise any objection when Ravinder Reddy came to pick up the children, ” the police said. The two girls - one seven-year-old and the other eight-year-old sat in the cabin. After travelling for some distance, the driver allegedly began to misbehave with them.

0The girls got down when he stopped the vehicle and complained to their parents.
