Former Minister acquitted

CUDDALORE: The Cuddalore Judicial Magistrate Court on Wednesday acquitted P. Angalan, former Social Welfare Minister in the Puducherry government, in a woman harassment case.

In 2006, Mr. Angalan’s wife Kavipriya had filed a case of harassment against him in the Villiyanur women police station.

The case created a furore among the women’s rights groups, leading to Mr. Angalan’s removal from the Cabinet.

After hearing the arguments, Cuddalore Judicial Magistrate Meenakumari acquitted Mr. Angalan. — Special Correspondent
