Krishna wins Koka Ranga Rao Trophy

VIJAYAWADA: Krishna district won the Koka Ranga Rao Memorial Trophy for the ACA Central Zone U-19 cricket tournament whcih concluded here on Wednesday.

Both Krishna-Guntur and West Godavari-Prakasam matches ended in draw. Ch. Siva Kumar’s eight for 41 for West Godavari against Prakasam was the highlight of the final day’s play.

The scores: Krishna 182 and 114 for five in 47 overs (Krishna Teja 49) drew with Guntur 150 in 62 overs (Rishi Chowdary three for 34, T.K. Ganesh Kumar three for 53).

West Godavari 284 for seven and 101 for six in 27 overs (Y. Satyanarayana 48, K. Narendra five for 41) drew with Prakasam 130 in 47 overs (T. Vamsi 44, Ch. Siva Kumar eight for 41).

Bharat scalps seven

Leg-spinner Bharat Reddy claimed seven East Godavari second innings wickets to help Visakhapatnam, which already won the P.V. Krishnam Raju Trophy, win by nine wickets in a round-robin match of the ACA North Zone inter-district U-22 cricket tournament at Kakinada. A selection match will be played from Thursday to select North Zone team for the ACA inter-zone tournament.

The scores: East Godavari 152 in 50.3 overs (T.S. Rao 57, G.V.S. Prasad four for 32) and 123 in 33.3 overs (Bharat Reddy seven for 23) lost to Visakhapatnam 260 in 79.2 overs (G.V.S. Prasad 61, G. Chiranjeevi 49) and 16 for one.

Vizianagaram 142 in 58.2 overs and 224 in 63.1 overs (B. Diwakar 81, S.S.S. Bahadur 46) drew with Srikakulam 180 in 60.3 overs (M.S. Deepak Kumar 83, Swethan five for 65).
