AGORC takes title

Chennai: AGORC lifted the SICGIL Trophy after defeating defending champion 20th Century CC in the final played recently at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

K. Manoharan (49) and Bilwa Prasath (41) guided the successful chase, as AG’s Office completed a six-wicket win in the 21st edition of the tournament exclusively for clubs in the lower divisions of the TNCA league.

The scores: 20th Century CC 115 in 28 overs (K. Elango 41) lost to AGORC 117 for four in 28.5 overs (K. Manoharan 49, Bilwa Prasath 41.)

Mohan Babu shines

R. Mohan Babu’s all-round performance (69 and three for 39) powered Chettinad Vidyashram to an 80-run win over Jawahar Vidyalaya in the Sumeru Soft inter-school under-16 cricket tournament.

The scores:

Chettinad Vidyashram 224 in 47.1 overs (R. Mohan Babu 69, Sai Anand 58, Srihari 35, V. Aravind three for 49) bt Jawahar Vidyalaya 144 in 50 overs (Divya Prakash 35, R. Mohan Babu three for 39).

Santhome 254 in 49.2 overs (R. Vishnu 34, Nitin Dharam 44, B. Rahul 29, Kaushik Sundaram 33, M. Siddarth 28, L.S. Vedant three for 47) bt Vidyamandir 77 in 35.3 overs (Anand Kumar three for 25, Kaushik Sundaram three for 15).

Easy for Infosys

Infosys defeated Perot Systems by eight wickets in the corporate Twenty20 cricket tournament, organised by VS Sports Network here recently.

The scores: Perot Systems 114 for six in 20 overs lost to Infosys 115 for two in 16.4 overs (T. Ravishankar 47).

CTS 184 for seven in 20 overs bt HP 104 for seven in 20 overs.

Wipro 129 for seven in 20 overs (Jayaprakash 59) lost to TNT 131 for four in 18.2 overs.

Club Mahindra 179 for seven in 20 overs (Lokesh 41 not out) bt Mando India 111 in 18.5 overs.

Sports Mechanics India Pvt Ltd 162 for eight in 20 overs lost to HSBC 164 for nine in 19.3 overs (Siddharth 46).

First Source 166 for six in 20 overs (Aksat 40 not out) lost to Consim India Pvt Ltd 170 for eight in 18.3 overs.

Training camp

Fifteen talented boys, selected from the Tata Tea Arsenal Soccer Stars, a unique schools’ (10-15 years) tournament held in association with Arsenal FC in four zones, will get an opportunity to attend the 15-day Arsenal training camp starting in the first week of August as well as an entry to the Arsenal International Soccer Festival in London in August 2008.

Car rally postponed

The J K Tyre Duchess Club all women’s car rally, scheduled to take place on July 6, has been postponed to August 3 due to the non availability of fuel in Chennai.
