THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two persons were killed in road accidents at Balaramapuram and Nanadavanam on Wednesday. A 19-year-old college student was killed when a sand-laden lorry knocked down the motorcycle he was riding on National Highway 47 near Balaramapuram junction around 7 a.m. According to the police, P.S. Vipin, a second year B.A student of Christian College, Kattakada, and resident of Thannivila, was killed on the spot. He was returning home from the gymnasium around 7 a.m. when the accident took place in front of the Government Higher Secondary School, Balarampuram. The lorry dragged Vipin, son of Vijayakumar, a driver attached to the Neyattinkara depot of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation, to over 10 metres. The rear wheel of the lorry ran over the motorcyclist. The police have registered a case. In the second accident, 27-year-old Vipin Babu was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a compound wall near the A.R. Camp, Nandavanam, around 10 p.m. Vipin Babu, a resident of Kunnil House, Kunnukuzhy, was rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital by the city police. He was declared dead on arrival at the casualty wing. He is survived by wife, Namitha.
