SFI demands bicycles for all

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Students Federation of India (SFI) staged a protest here on Wednesday seeking distribution of bicycles to high school students of government and aided schools, and submitted a memorandum to the office of the Commissioner, Department of Public Instruction, in this regard.

Over 200 activists of the Students Federation of India staged a protest in front of the commissioner’s office, and said that there should not be any discrimination in the distribution of bicycles.

Navin Kumar, secretary, State unit committee, said that funds should be allocated in such a way that all students of high schools get the benefit of the project.

He said that steps should be taken to provide basic facilities in government schools such as filling of vacancies of teachers and bring the standard of education in government schools on par with the private schools.
