Jolarpet BBC is champion

Coimbatore: Jolarpet BBC emerged champion of the second State-level open fives ball badminton tournament for men at the Government HSS in Nellorepet, Gudiyattam, recently.

It was a three-way tie between Jolarpet, Soya Sakthi (Coimbatore) and IOB (Chennai). Jolarpet won with a better score advantage. Soya Sakthi and IOB finished in that order.

The results (semifinal league): Jolarpet bt Soya Sakthi 29-22, 29-25; bt TBBC (Tiruvottiyur) 29-15, 29-14; Soya Sakthi bt IOB 29-14, 29-20; bt TBBC 27-29, 29-10, 29-15; IOB bt Jolarpet 15-29, 29-17, 29-22; bt TBBC 29-22, 29-25.

At Erode, the district cricket association will conduct trials for the under-14, 16 and 19 teams at the VOC Park grounds from 9 a.m. on July 6. Call S. Surendran at 94433-50016.

The seventh Erode district junior athletic meet will be held at the VOC Park Stadium on July 4 and 5. — Sports Reporter
