Nagercoil: Fishermen from Enayam and Ramanthurai near Karungal were detained by their counterparts in Vizuncham in Kerala on Wednesday. According to sources 40 fishermen who ventured in to sea for fishing in six mechanized boats were drifted towards Kerala owing to rough weather. However their counterparts in Kerala detained them. On information both the police and revenue officials rushed to the spot and held discussions with the fishermen of Kerala. Widespread rainMeanwhile various parts of the district experienced widespread rain on Thursday. Many fishermen did not venture in to the sea. The water level in Pechipparai dam stood at 35.10 feet against its total capacity of 48 feet, 37 feet in Perunchani against its total capacity of 77 feet, 7.12 feet in Chittar I against its total capacity of 18 feet and 7.22 in Chittar II against its total capacity of 18 feet.
