Special Correspondent

The language had a history of over 2,000 years had and produced great classics. The Centre should give classical language status to the language on par with Sanskrit and Tamil, at the earliest, as Kannada lovers were agitated over the inordinate delay.

Later, Mr. Yeddyurappa met Union Finance Minister P. He also sought a Rs. 8,500 crore special package for the infrastructure development of Bangalore during the 11th Plan and reimbursement by the Centre of Rs. 1,880 crore for farm loans waived by the State Government.
