A special air ambulance from Mumbai arrived at 5.45 p.m. Poor weather conditions delayed aircraft’s departure MADURAI: Two persons, including a woman, from Poland who suffered serious injuries in a road accident near Dindigul, were airlifted from Madurai in an air ambulance to Bangalore for further treatment on Thursday. Four persons, including two women, all in the age group of about 30 years were working in a private factory at Ambathurai, near Dindigul. They had been to Puducherry in a private car last weekend. When they were returning to Dindigul on Sunday late night, the vehicle collided against a stationary lorry near Vayyampatti in the district and all the four were seriously injured. They were rushed to a near by private hospital and subsequently to Dindigul Government Hospital. After preliminary treatment, they were shifted to Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre, Madurai, where surgeries were performed on them. A hospital spokesman said that after a team of doctors from Bangalore and Chennai diagnosed, it was decided to airlift them to Bangalore for further treatment. Airport sources said that a special air ambulance which was flown from Mumbai, arrived at 5.45 p.m. Though the hospital authorities had arranged to shift all the four to Bangalore in an air ambulance, the aircraft could accommodate only two patients at a time. Due to poor weather conditions, there was delay in the departure. The air-ambulance left the airport at 9 p.m. with two patients. It had been decided to shift the other two patients tomorrow morning, airport sources added.
