President launches “Van Mahotsav”

NEW DELHI: President Pratibha Patil launched “Van Mahotsav” by planting a sapling of the Caribbean Trumpet Tree, commonly known as “Basant Rani”, at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya here on Thursday.

Under the programme, 1,000 saplings will be planted in the Rashtrapati Bhavan Estate.

Ms. Patil inaugurated a basketball court in the Vidyalaya and also interacted with the players of the school’s basketball team.
