‘Keep surroundings of uzhavar santhai clean’
Staff Reporter
NAMAKKAL: Collector U. Sagayam directed officials to keep the surroundings of uzhavar santhai in Namakkal town clean.
Inspecting the market here on Thursday, the Collector also told the officials to plant more saplings on the market premises. He instructed the Namakkal municipal administration to repair a motor pump and ensure regular maintenance of the toilet in the market. One more shed could be constructed in the vacant place in the market for selling the vegetables, he suggested.
The Collector asked the officials to allot a separate place for selling organic vegetables. Farmers selling flowers should also be given a separate place, he said.
Mr. Sagayam said that the district administration would discuss with the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation officials the issue of advancing the timing of buses operated in the early morning from Karavalli, Vadavathur, Jambadai, Kodangipatti, Rasipuram, Vazhavanthi, Velur and Palapatti areas.
This would facilitate the farmers in these areas to transport their produce to the uzhavar santhai before the market opened. Senior officials were present during the inspection.
Earlier, the Collector disbursed a sum of Rs. 9.01 lakh to various local bodies.
