No neck tie for primary schoolchildren

PUDUCHERRY: Primary class students here have a reason to smile. The Directorate of School Education has banned the wearing of neck ties for students up to Standard V.

The Directorate recently issued instruction in this regard to all government and private schools here. “The ban was introduced following a report from JIPMER on suffocation in a child caused by wearing a neck tie,” director of School Education G. Ragesh Chandra said.
