Corrections and clarifications

>>In a report “Cabinet clears amendment Bill on OBC reservation” (July 4, 2008), the last paragraph was “Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd, a public service undertaking, has been providing service with one helicopter to the Lakshadweep administration on lease from February 1987.” It should have been “public sector undertaking”.

>>In a Ted Corbett report “No change to England squad” (“Sport”, July 4, 2008), the ninth paragraph was “England may be forced to change before the first Test begins. Michael Vaughan, the captain whose record was tainted by the ICC’s decision to change the victory over Pakistan at the Oval in 2006 into a draw, has more problems with his right knee and is still having treatment.” Andrew Strauss, and not Michael Vaughan, led England in this Test.

In the same report, the tenth paragraph was “Captain Vaughan’s record after the change enforced by the ICC now reads: 48 Tests, 25 wins, nine defeats and 14 draws.” The Sports Desk clarifies that Vaughan’s captaincy record — 26 wins, nine defeats, 13 draws — remains unaltered.

>>The fifth paragraph in a report “When the going got tough, the Indian batting got going” (“Sport”, July 4, 2008) was “However there was no hint of nerves as Virender Sehwag (42) and Gautam Gambhir (68, 61b, 11x5) sprinkled adrenaline with 92-run partnership off 70 deliveries before M.S. Dhoni who seems to love the adjective ‘dogged’ rather than ‘blind aggression’, these days, buckled down with a valuable 67 (62b, 5x4, 1x6).” The figures for Gautham Gambhir’s innings should have been 68, 61b, 11x4.
