KURNOOL: CPI State secretariat member K. Ramakrishna urged the government to pay attention to rising prices of essential commodities. Talking to reporters here on Friday, he said because of inefficiency, lenience and corruption in government , the prices of commodities have gone up thus hurting common man and farmers. He faulted Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for talking politics at the recent meeting of Collectors saying the agenda comprised elections, alliances, Opposition parties and even newspapers. He also said that Dr. Reddy should know that he is the Chief Minister for the entire State and not for Kadapa alone. Mr. Ramakrishna took exception to the stand taken by the UPA government on nuclear deal saying it would amount to mortgaging the sovereignty of the country. The CPI leader criticised the land policy of the State government saying large chunks of land were being given to industrialists even through they did not require them. He said the party would launch a jatha from Ichapuram in Srikakulam district and Tada in Nellore district simultaneously, culminating in a meeting in Vijayawada on July 21.
