Court moots academy for tax officials

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court has suggested to the State Government that it set up an exclusive academy to train officials of the Commercial Tax Department so that they could pass detailed and considered order when they assess tax. A Division Bench comprising Justice V. Gopala Gowda and Justice Ravi Malimath made the suggestion when it was dealing with a case on assessment of commercial tax. It said the Income Tax Department had an academy to train its personnel. — Staff Reporter
