Inter-country adoption from State allowed

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA), under the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, on Friday, has recognised the Andhra Pradesh Department of Women Development and Child Welfare (DWDCW) to place children for inter-country adoption.

Though the DWDCW is already functioning as the adoption co-ordination agency, inter-country adoption from the State was banned since 2001-02.

But now, with the recognition as the placement agency, it will be able to allow more and more orphans, special children and abandoned ones to join loving and caring families.
