Plea for action against attacks on ashrams

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Four Hindu organisations have urged Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan to take serious note of the continuing attacks against sanyasis and their ashrams in the State and to take immediate action to stop such interference into the religious freedom of the Hindus by anti-social elements.

The Hindu Aikya Vedi, Veerasaiva Sabha, Harijan Samajam and Yoga Kshema Sabha made this appeal in a memorandum to the Chief Minister on Friday.

The leaders of these organisations narrated specific instances of such attacks and said that in none of the cases the police had taken meaningful action.
