Private schooling for 10 students

Assistance of Rs.28,150 to be given

PUDUKOTTAI: Ten students belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities who appeared through the Government schools and secured high marks in the SSLC public examination held in March this year, have been given an assistance of Rs.28,150 each for pursuing their higher secondary education in reputed private schools.

In a press release issued here on Saturday, Collector Reeta Harish Thakkar said that the assistance aimed at helping the economically backward students who scored high marks in the academic record, but found it difficult to pursue their education.

The students selected were C. Surya (Andakulam); R. Dhanapal (Iluppur); R. Sukanya (Gandarvakottai); D. Sudha (Perungudi); P. Ramkumar (Arimalam); S. Kannika (Tirumayam); K. Sudakar (Thanjoor); S. Anandhi (Veladipatti); M. Kannan (Avudayarkoil); M. Srividhya (Adhanakottai).

These students scored marks between 462 and 477 out of a maximum of 500 marks and have been admitted to private schools in Rasipuram, Pattukottai, Namakkal, Karur, Devakottai and Pudukottai.

Break-up

The assistance is meant for Rs. 8,000 towards tuition fees; Rs. 15,000 towards hostel fees, Rs. 3,650 towards other fees and Rs. 1,500 towards special coaching fees.

The Collector said the parents of these students belonged to economically weaker sections and were agricultural labourers.

She appealed to the students currently studying in class X to take maximum advantage of the scheme.
