Impressive show by RSP

Rourkela:With the production of 0.544 MT of hot metal, 0.512 MT of crude steel and 0.492 MT saleable steel, the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has completed the first quarter of 2008-09 registering the best ever production for any period of April-June since its inception.

An impressive performance was achieved during June 2008, by producing hot metal 1,84,325 tonnes, crude steel output stood at 1,73,390 tonnes and total saleable steel output touched 1,70,176 tonnes, RSP sources said.

June production was achieved with impressive capacity utilisation with hot metal reaching 112 per cent, crude steel raching 111 per cent and saleable steel production reaching a phenomenal 124 per cent of rated capacity, source said. Best ever April-June performance was also recorded in the finishing unit like hot rolled coils (total) with 3,83,901 tonnes, hot roll coil for sale achieving 1,87,479 tonnes, hot rolled plate achieving 76,276 tonnes and crno from sillicon steel mill achieving 20,923 tonnes.
