Clarification

With reference to a news item ‘Patronage for suburban trains on an upswing’ published in these columns on Friday, Southern Railway clarifies that figures on the number of passengers mentioned in the news item pertain to only 18 stations of the suburban system and indicates only the trends.

The release further said that Chennai suburban system carries close to 9 lakh passengers on an average per day.
