“Sethu project will be implemented”

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi said on Friday that the Sethusamudram ship channel project would be implemented, fulfilling the dreams of leaders such as E.V. Ramasamy, C.N. Annadurai and K. Kamaraj.
He also noted that the execution of the project had faced several setbacks.
Addressing a function to mark the wedding of the nephew of the Union Shipping Minister T. R. Baalu, the Chief Minister referred to Mr. Baalu’s role in the implementation of the project and said those who had advocated the execution of the project during elections were now opposing it.
Endorsed
Noting the presence of the Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Union Minister S. Thirunavukkarasar, the Chief Minister said the project was endorsed by former Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee.
