Avoid panic buying: oil firms

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Public sector oil companies have appealed to consumers not to resort to panic buying as there is sufficient stock of petrol and diesel in the State.

“If people stop panic buying, normality could be restored within a day,” Indian Oil Corporation General Manager B. Ashok told presspersons here on Friday. Mr. Ashok said that during the last three days the demand for petrol and diesel had increased by 25 to 30 per cent solely because of panic buying.

“Even otherwise, there has been a 22 per cent increase in the demand when compared to the relevant period last year and the panic buying has strained our supply chain considerably,” he noted.

Meanwhile, petrol stations in the city did normal business on Friday.
