Epidemic prevention drive in Amachal

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: The district health administration has intensified epidemic preventive measures in Kattakada panchayat from where dengue fever was reported.

District Medical Officer Kumari G. Prema said here on Friday that a door-to-door survey and a campaign to eliminate vector breeding centres had been carried out in the Mangalackal and Ambalathumkala wards. As many as 185 persons turned up for the medical camps conducted by the Health administration at the Kulathodumala anganwadi and the Saraswathy Vilasam library, Ambalathinkala. Of these, only four were diagnosed with fever. No fresh case of fever was reported in the household-level survey conducted by the Community Medicine Department and the District Malaria Department.

Ms. Prema said ward- level health sanitation committees had been given funds to take up activities from July 5.
