Employment fair on July 8

NAMAKKAL: The Vazhnthu Kattuvom District Society will conduct an employment fair at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School (Namakkal south) at 9 a.m. on July 8.Multinational companies and various organisations will participate in the fair and recruit candidates for various jobs.

Charred to death

A girl student was charred to death in a fire in Oilpatti, near here, on Friday.Police said Sukanya (15) was cooking in her house, when her dress caught fire. Neighbours rescued her and admitted her to the Salem Government Medical College Hospital with serious burns. She died at the hospital.

Killed

A youth was murdered and two others sustained injuries when a gang attacked them, near here, on Friday night.

Police said Sasikumar (33) of Ambedkar Nagar and his friends Musthafa (27) and Jegannathan (27) were travelling on two motorcycles, when the gang blocked their way and attacked them.

While Musthafa died on the spot, Sasikumar and Jegannathan sustained injuries and were admitted to Tiruchengode Government Hospital.
