Loyola College joins forces with Pondicherry University

Staff Reporter

Twinning programme offers MBA, M.Com and PG diploma courses

It will provide 480 hours of classes

The college faculty will take classes for the enrolled candidates

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Loyola College (ALC) will offer MBA, M.Com and post graduate diploma courses under a new ‘twinning programme’ with the Pondicherry University from this August.

The courses to be offered are five MBA programmes in Marketing, Finance, International Business, Human Resources Management and General and M.Com (Finance). Post-graduate diploma courses open to regular students will also be offered in the twinning mode. Annual examinations will be held in June every year, while supplementary examination will be held in December for all programmes on the ALC campus itself.

On completion of these courses, the university will issue degree certificates in the name of the twinning programme, and not under distance education. While the Pondicherry University allocates only 30 hours of classes under distance education mode, the twinning programme provides for 480 hours of class work.

Tailor-made courses

ALC, Vijayawada, is the third college in south India after the Loyola College, Chennai, and the Christ College, Bangalore, to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pondicherry University to offer these tailor-made courses to cater to the educational aspirations of employed persons and other sections of the society.

“This twinning programme is unique. It is almost equal to regular programmes. There will be classes every Sunday on our campus,” said ALC Principal S. Emmanuel and Correspondent & Director D. Showraiah, at a press conference on Saturday.

They said that the faculty of the college would be taking classes for the enrolled candidates. The MBA programmes being offered at the Loyola College in Chennai under this mode had become very popular, with nearly 500 candidates making use of it.

ALC Coordinator and Dean (administration) G.M. Srirangam said that candidates who opt for twinning programme would be given all facilities and skills on a par with regular students of the college. The university had also agreed to open a placement cell for these candidates to explore job opportunities.

There would be a rigorous extended classroom session on all Sundays of the academic year.

Unlike many other programmes, there would be no internal assessment in this twinning programme.
