BHUBANESWAR: It has been over 10 days since all the employees right from chief engineer to clerks of Orissa Lift Irrigation Corporation (OLIC) have gone on a mass leave, but there seems to be little effort of reconciliation by the State government. Naveen Patnaik-led government had earlier announced to revive the OLIC and convert it into a directorate, but nothing could be materialised due to bureaucratic hurdles, said Bijay Kumar Das, president of the Orissa Lift Irrigation Civil Engineers’ Association (OLICEA). Orissa Lift Irrigation Diploma Engineers’ Association (OLIDEA) also expressed concern over delay in the implementation of lift irrigation projects due to absence of employees.
